Here I am using a TV remote to test that IR light will shine though the LCD with the backlight still on.

2. Building the frame for the box, with a PC placed at the bottom.

3. Cut and drilled aluminium rails to hold IR LEDs, testing with and old 5mm LED

Inside of the box. I am using the original plate from the monitor to hold the LCD electronics, I bought an FFC extension (on the left) for the LCD from DIY-Beamer. On the far side of the box is the backlight power extensions.

6. Plexiglass in position, ordered pre-cut and polished from All-Star Plastics

7. New Osram SFH485P LEDs arrived, these are more powerful and have a wider angle than the other ones I was using. Ordered from Seeed Studio.
